Deprem k\u0131r\u0131\u011f\u0131 \u0130zmit K\u00f6rfezi\u2019nin Marmara\u2019ya girdi\u011fi yerde durdu. B\u00f6ylece bu depremler belirli miktardaki stresi Marmara\u2019n\u0131n alt\u0131ndaki k\u0131r\u0131lmayan kabu\u011fa transfer etti. Depremler olmasayd\u0131 Anadolu levhas\u0131 y\u0131lda sadece 2,5 cm bat\u0131ya kayacak ve bu yer de\u011fi\u015ftirmeye denk gelecek bir stresi Marmara Denizi\u2019nin alt\u0131ndaki kabu\u011fa y\u00fckleyecekti.
